How to properly use the Restor-It Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer

How to properly mix and use the Restor-It Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer.

The proper way to mix the Restor-It Epoxy Sealer is to, after the cans have been opened, pour equal amounts of Part A and Part B into one container. DO NOT USE STYROFOAM CONTAINERS AS THE SOLVENTS WILL DISSOLVE THEM. The amounts do not have to be 100% precise, there can be as much as a 10% error while still having a full cure of the Epoxy Sealer. Because the sealer is nearly as thin as water, it will not take much time or effort in order to mix the two parts, A and B. Because the Epoxy Sealer contains organic solvents, it is especially important that you wear an OSHA approved respirator that covers your nose and mouth.

Make sure you remove the loose dry rot that you can with either your hands or a wire brush. You do not need to spend a lot of time with this or try to gouge all of the rotted wood out.

Once the Restor-It Sealer has been mixed, it can be applied in multiple different ways. It can be poured directly onto the piece of wood (not recommended because this can cause the Restor-It Sealer to splash and may waste product), it can be brushed on with a paint brush or roller, and it may even be sprayed on through a plastic spray bottle. We recommend that you use cheap materials that you can thrown away once you are finished. The sealer will penetrate deep into the wood because of its unique design and formula. It will encapsulate all of the fungus spores, re-hardening the wood to usefulness again as soon as it cures

While you are applying the Epoxy Sealer, you will be able to see the wood absorb the sealer. The Sealer should be applied until the wood will not absorb any more. When the Restor-It Epoxy Sealer is fully soaked into the wood, the wood will have a wet look to it.This may take multiple applications, depending on the size and severity of the wood rot. Once you are satisfied that you have completely saturated the wood, leave it alone to cure. Depending on your weather conditions this may take as long as seven days.
